The Science of Beauty
On 28 October 2025, Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients Malaysia hosted “Luxe Behind the Lab”, an in-depth seminar and hands-on formulation workshop held at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The event brought together customers, suppliers, and technology partners for a full-day immersion into advanced beauty formulation.
The programme opened with welcoming remarks from Alex, General Manager of Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients Malaysia & Singapore, setting the tone for a full day of scientific discussion and hands-on learning.
Expert Sessions: Innovation Across Beauty Categories
Participants were guided through a series of technical presentations from our partners:
- Innovacos introduced their world of formulations, showcasing PolyAquol™ and Innollient™ technologies, covering emulsification, sensorial performance, microbiota balance, and clinical benefits.
- Hony shared innovations across haircare and skincare, highlighting D5 replacement, ingredient functionality, stability and application insights.
- Everon Healthcare presented their breakthrough Triple-Helix Recombinant Collagen, offering scientifically grounded perspectives on next-generation biomaterials and their role in repair, hydration, and anti-aging applications.
Technology Demonstration by IKA
As part of the morning session, IKA, one of our valued technology partners, also conducted a live equipment demonstration. Participants had the chance to see how laboratory tools support efficient emulsification, mixing, and prototype development, reinforcing the link between ingredient science and practical formulation work.
Hands-On Workshop: From Theory to Creation
In the afternoon, participants moved into the lab for a practical formulation session guided by the JJING technical team. Attendees worked through three prototypes:
- Cleansing Oil
- Hair Oil
- Lip Gloss
This hands-on component allowed customers to translate the morning’s scientific discussions into real formulations, gaining first-hand experience in texture creation, stability considerations, and application performance.
A Collaborative Success
The workshop received highly positive feedback, with attendees expressing appreciation for the technical depth, practical relevance, and opportunity to learn directly from JJING, supplier experts, and IKA’s technology demonstration. Many participants shared interest in further testing, formulation work, and future collaboration opportunities.
